Renee Zellweger, American actress famously known for "Bridget Jones" in Bridget Jones's Diary, recently opened up about leaving her Texan accent behind for the fourth film.
Zellweger who played a British fictional character had no problem in reviving the accent after a decade.
In conversation with the People magazine, the Judy star explained the reason as she said, "I wouldn’t say it was method acting as much as it was lazy."
"I didn’t want to start every morning trying to make my vowels sound right. I just wanted it to be a habit. I didn’t want to work that hard!"
While talking about her personal connection with the story, Zellweger said, "Bridget feels like an old friend."
Other than Zellweger, Hugh Grant and Sally Phillips reprised their roles.
"Over the years, our on-set friendships have just deepened, and it really feels like a family reunion," the 55-year-old actress added.
Zellweger noticed the change in the tone of rom-com’s fourth instalment due to Jones reeling from the death of her husband Mark Darcy.
"We were familiar with how emotional the material was because the novel had been out for a while," she said.
However, Zellweger admitted that the "script was beautifully written." To keep up with romance in the film, Jones decides to learn to live again after her loss and meets a 29-year-old student named Roxster (Leo Woodwall)
She also strikes up friendship with her son’s science teacher Mr. Walliker, played by Chiwetel Ejiofor.
The movie, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy was released on February 12, 2025.
