LGH recruits 85 new doctors

LAHORE

Lahore General Hospital Administration has selected 85 doctors against the vacancies of house officers. These recruitments have been made under the PMDC Rules, House Foundation Year 2010.

A total of 201 candidates were interviewed by the panel comprising Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood, Principal Post Graduate Medical Institute/Lahore General Hospital (PGMI/LGH), Dr Niaz Ahmad, MS LGH, and professors of various departments at LGH for final selection, according to a press release issued here on Wednesday. The selected doctors will assume their responsibilities on 1st of July, 2016.

Principal PGMI/LGH Dr Khalid Mahmood said that new house physicians and surgeons have been selected purely on merit and qualification and they will be given stipend on monthly basis according to the government rules. He expressed the hope that new recruitments would go a long way to enhance the services standard and availability of medical facilities in the hospital. He emphasised the new comers to perform their duties with dedication and a sense to serve the ailing humanity.

anti-dengue campaign: Parliamentary Secretary on Health Kh Imran Nazir has said that secretaries and senior officers of the departments concerned should personally go into the field to monitor dengue control activities for effective control on dengue, in the upcoming season.

He said that according to the meteorological department, excessive rains are expected in the coming monsoon season; therefore, it is essential to boost up anti-dengue activities and to check the mosquito breeding.

He stated this while presiding over a meeting of Cabinet Committee on Dengue at Civil Secretariat, according to a handout issued here on Wednesday. Director General Health Dr Mukhtar Hussain Syed, Pir Ashraf Rasool MPA, senior officers of all the departments concerned, representatives of federal departments based in Lahore, including meteorological department attended the meeting. The officers from Punjab Information Technology Board and Special Branch were also present in the meeting.

Additional Director General Health Dengue Control Dr Fayyaz Butt presented an overall dengue situation in Punjab.

Kh Salman Rafique stressed the need of dengue awareness campaign besides vigorous indoor and outdoor dengue and vector surveillance. He said that Rawalpindi was the most sensitive district as regard to dengue; therefore, special focus should be given on foolproof anti-dengue measures. The officers of Punjab Information Technology Board and Special Branch shared data regarding the anti-dengue activities carried out by different departments across the province.

Kh Imran Nazir observed that personal visits of the senior officers in the field would not only ensure effective monitoring of the surveillance teams but it would also encourage them.
