LAHORE:Civil Lines Police have arrested five individuals, including three police personnel, for impersonating themselves as FIA officials and extorting money from call centres.
According to a police spokesperson, the suspects extorted Rs500,000 from a digital marketing office in Civil Lines. During the incident, they forced the call centre staff to withdraw Rs300,000 from an ATM and also took Rs250,000 in cash along with five laptops. A case was registered against the accused, and they were handed over to the investigation wing.
Two commit suicide
A young man, distressed by domestic problems, took his own life, while a drug addict died by suicide after being unable to obtain drugs. Police shifted the bodies to the morgue.
According to a spokesperson for the Edhi Foundation, a young man named Hamza, distraught over domestic issues, shot himself in the Mughalpura area. He was rushed to hospital in critical condition but he died. Meanwhile, a drug addict named Nadeem fatally cut his own vein after failing to obtain drugs. He died on the spot. Bodies were shifted to the morgue.
