‘Two million treated free at LGH during 2024’

LAHORE:Ensuring the implementation of the vision of CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif ‘Health for All’, almost two million patients were treated at Lahore General Hospital without any fee slip during 2024. Moreover, 98,925 surgeries of various types were also extended treatment at LGH.

This was expressed by the Postgraduate Medical Institute / Ameer Uddin Medical College, Principal Prof Dr Muhammad Al-Fareed Zafar while presiding over the performance review meeting regarding the previous year.

MS Dr Faryad Hussain, Director Emergency Prof Khizar Hayat Gondal, Director (Vigilance) Dr Adnan Masood, Dr Jafar Hussain Shah, Dr Laila Shafiq, Dr Ammara Akhtar, Dr Nadia Arshad, Dr Abdul Aziz, Dr Salman Shakeel and other doctors were present.

Prof Al-Fared Zafar said that under the guidance of Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique the availability of a Senior Consultant in the hospital, provision of quality medical facilities, monitoring and feedback system and the support of philanthropists free food facility for patients and their relatives and construction of guest houses for the attendants have given the citizens a sigh of relief.

He added, ‘these steps have increased confidence in the LGH administration and our very capable medical staff. The best possible service to the suffering humanity is the hallmark of the health professionals of LGH. Maintaining the traditions of the past they will continue the series of patient-friendly policies in the year 2025 as well.

Prof Al-Fareed added, ‘Nothing can be more important than human life therefore, health professionals should always be alert to provide the best and quality medical facilities. This year as compared to previous ones there has been a further positive increase in the performance which is undoubtedly due to a team effort.’
