Strategy evolved to ensure water availability for standing wheat crop

LAHORE:In the wake of ongoing dry weather, the Punjab government has formulated strategy to ensure water availability for standing wheat crop. A meeting regarding the preparation of a wheat advisory for the Punjab province was held at Agriculture House, here, under the chairmanship of Secretary Agriculture Punjab Iftikhar Ali Sahoo. The meeting conducted a detailed review of the wheat crop situation in irrigated and rainfed areas, and an advisory was formulated based on expert recommendations. On this occasion, Secretary Agriculture Punjab Iftikhar Ali Sahoo stated that separate advisories have been prepared for irrigated and rainfed areas. All possible resources and mediums are being utilised to provide farmers with these advisories. He further added that, considering the weather conditions, wheat farmers are being provided with timely guidance. Field activities of the Agriculture Department are being intensified to ensure proper crop management. Special coordination has also been established with the Irrigation Department to ensure the timely availability of canal water for irrigated areas. The meeting was attended by Addl Secy Agriculture (Task Force) Punjab M Shabbir Ahmed, DGs of Agriculture Abdul Hameed, Naveed Asmat Kahloon and others.
