TEPA, traffic police ordered to collaborate to prevent accidents

LAHORE:Provincial Minister for Housing and Urban Development Bilal Yasin has directed TEPA and traffic police to adopt a joint strategy to prevent accidents in the city. He said this during his visit to the Traffic Engineering & Planning Agency (TEPA) office here on Thursday.

The provincial minister said more steps should be taken to allocate spaces for footpaths and bike lanes on the roads. U-turns will be marked on the roads keeping in mind the convenience of citizens and traffic pressure.

On this occasion, Bilal Yasin directed the TEPA officers to expedite the campaign against illegal signboards in the city. He further said that proposals should be prepared to build pedestrian bridges to prevent traffic accidents on busy highways.

The minister directed the TEPA officers to give suggestions on the Data Darbar Master Plan. It is extremely important to control the increasing traffic problems in a timely manner. TEPA Chief Engineer Iqrar Hussain gave a detailed briefing on the departmental performance and affairs. TEPA also presented its suggestions to the minister on measures to further improve traffic flow in the city.

The minister was informed about the suggestions for widening and remodeling of roads from different places of TEPA. In addition, the performance of the enforcement wing of TEPA was also reviewed.
