LAHORE:Women police have arrested the prime suspect in a gang-rape case involving a girl student in the Race course area. Efforts are underway to apprehend the two remaining suspects, identified as Talha Khan and Hamza.
According to the police, the arrested suspect, Haseeb Afzal, befriended the victim on social media and, along with his friends, allegedly lured her into a trap where she was subjected to gang rape. The victim, identified as (F), has undergone a medical examination, and the report is awaited to confirm the facts. Haseeb has been handed over to the investigation wing for further questioning, while police teams are conducting raids to arrest the absconding suspects. Officials assured that all culprits would be brought to justice, reiterating their commitment to cracking down on such heinous crimes.
Extortion case registered
A showroom owner in Johar Town was allegedly harassed and asked to pay Rs150 million in extortion. Police have registered a case and initiated raids to apprehend the suspects. According to the complainant, Azam, the owner of a one-kanal showroom in Johar Town, had rented the property to Usman, a resident of Defence.
When Azam, along with his sons Shafiq and Taufeeq, visited the showroom to collect rent, they found Usman missing. Instead, they were confronted by unidentified guards allegedly hired by Ali Hasan, who harassed them and demanded Rs50 million in extortion. The complainant further claimed that Ali Hasan had previously demanded Rs100 million in extortion. Johar Town police have filed a case based on Azam’s complaint but have yet to arrest the accused. Authorities are conducting raids to locate and apprehend the suspects.
