LAHORE:In a shocking turn of events, Inspector Saifullah Niazi, the in-charge of the Babu Sabu check-post, was shot dead on Tuesday by his private employee during an altercation at his quarters.
The accused, identified as Adeel, allegedly used the inspector’s service pistol to commit the act. Initial reports suggest that the dispute erupted when Niazi reprimanded Adeel for arriving late to work. This led to a heated argument, culminating in the fatal shooting. DIG Operations Faisal Kamran reached the scene shortly after the incident to oversee the investigation. Speaking to the media, DIG Kamran revealed, “The accused has been apprehended, and crucial evidence is being gathered. We will ensure justice is served for this tragic incident.” In his statement to the police, Adeel confessed to the crime, claiming that he was frustrated by Niazi’s alleged abusive behaviour. “He would often hurl abuses and demean us over trivial matters,” Adeel stated.
Inspector Saifullah had a reputation for behavioural issues with both subordinates and the public. This history of strained relationships is now being examined as a contributing factor in the case. DIG Kamran expressed solidarity with the late inspector’s family, stating, “The Lahore Police stands united with the bereaved family and will provide full support during this difficult time. We will not tolerate such acts of violence against our personnel.” The Lahore Police have initiated a comprehensive investigation into the incident while the accused remains in custody and legal proceedings are underway.
