Addressing a press conference held in the wake of a torture incident allegedly perpetrated by the members of the student party, PLF president Faisal Mir said the members of the student party forced student of another party to raise slogans against the leadership of the PPP and on refusal they tortured them.

Murtaza also accused hostel wardens and lecturers of having sympathetic attitude with the members of the religious party. He urged the PU Vice Chancellor to take strict action against such elements.

He said another such incident occurred a few months ago when students were attacked by a religious group when PPP leader Qamar Zaman Kaira was invited to address a moot in the campus. He said at that time the JI leadership apologised. Murtaza also demanded the JI leadership condemn this incident as well, otherwise it will be construed as the JI was behind the vitiating campus atmosphere. He said under the PLF leader Raheel Kamran Cheema a legal team has been formed. He said people will not be suppressed. He advocates for reforms instead of restrictions and said the ban on student unions is becoming the reason of such incidents.
