Man kills self after shooting girl in Kot Lakhpat

Apparently upset over a failed relationship, a 25-year-old man allegedly committed suicide after shooting his lover in Kot Lakhpat on Saturday.

The injured girl identified as Nida was admitted to a local hospital where her condition was said to be critical. The victim, identified as Ishfaq of Pattoki, had relations with Nida, police said adding that messages found in his phone indicated that a failed relationship led him to take the step.

On the day of the incident, Ishfaq became upset after the girl refused to speak to him. Upon which he forced entry into the house of his lover and shot and wounded her.

Later, he committed suicide by shooting himself on the spot. Police have sent the body for postmortem and further investigation into the case is on.

Security: DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf visited Ramadan Bazaars at Akbari Gate, Badami Bagh and Sabzi Mandi to review security arrangements.

He told journalists that foolproof security arrangements had been made for citizens at Ramadan Bazaars. He said the performance of cops was laudable with fasting and in hot weather.

Meanwhile, Chief Traffic Officer Tayyab Hafeez Cheema paid surprise visits to different Ramadan Bazaars to review flow of traffic and parking arrangements.

He also awarded Rs 1,000 each to nine traffic wardens on performing better duties. He directed DSPs to visit Ramadan Bazaars regularly and ensure proper parking arrangements for the visitors.
