A writ petition has been moved in the Lahore High Court challenging 15 to 50 percent hike in medicine prices.
Pakistan Awami Tehreek filed the petition through its counsel Advocate Ishtiaq Chaudhary. The petitioner said that medicine manufacturing companies had increased the prices of medicines on their on while the authorities concerned did not bother to take action against them. The prices of the medicines of blood pressure, diabetes and life-saving drugs were specially raised, he said. He said that the companies increases prices in violation of rules and regulations concerned.
The petitioner prayed to the court to set aside the current raise in the medicine prices.
SHO reply: An additional district and sessions court on Saturday sought report from the Kahna SHO for not taking action against four persons who allegedly tried to kidnap an FSc student.
Naureen Irshad, a resident of Kahna, filed a petition in the court seeking registration of a criminal case against Usman and three others. She contended that a few days back the accused tried to kidnap her but failed. She approached Kahna police for a case but the SHO did not entertain her application. She implored the court to direct the SHO to register a case against the accused.
The court after hearing arguments of the petitioner has sought report from the SHO Kahna.
NAB: A civil miscellaneous application has been filed in the Lahore High Court, seeking directions for the National Accountability Bureau chairman to initiate inquiry against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the wake of Panama Leaks.
A citizen filed the application in main petition already pending before the court.
The applicant states that Section 18 of the NAB Ordinance empowers its chairman to take suo motu of corrupt practices. He said the NAB chief had not so far submitted his reply in response to the court notices in the main case.
He prayed to the court to direct the NAB chairman to exercise his suo motu powers and initiate an inquiry into the allegation of establishing offshore companies by the family of the prime minister.
