LAHORE: A workshop titled “Workplace-based assessment: using DOPS and portfolio to improve competence” was organised by the Department of Pathology at the Punjab Institute of Neurosciences (PINS), Lahore.
It was the first-ever workshop in the public sector that was accredited by the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Pakistan. Executive Director/Head of Neurosurgery Department, PINS Lahore, Prof Dr Asif Bashir, gave the welcome address emphasising the importance of the newly emerging role of Health Profession Education to improve the level of the postgraduate training programme. The chief guest of the event was Prof Dr Akhter Sohail Chughtai. Prof Dr Akhter Sohail Chughtai enlightened the audience regarding the advancement in Pathology lab diagnostic tools. The facilitator of this workshop was Prof Dr Amina Ahmad, Dean at the School of Health Professions Education at CMHLMC & IOD, Lahore.
She discussed the significance of DOPS and portfolio to showcase the trainee’s best achievements to enhance competence. Senior faculty members and postgraduate residents of different disciplines like Pathology, Neurosurgery, Neurology, Radiology, and Anesthesia of Punjab Institute of Neurosciences, Lahore, as well as from Chughtai Lab, Allama Iqbal Medical College, Fatima Jinnah Medical College, Services Institute of Medical Sciences and Children Hospital, Lahore attended this activity.
