Rain, gusty winds forecast

Heat-stricken citizens of provincial capital may get some relief today (Friday) as Met office predicted dust-thunderstorm/rain with strong gusty winds.

However, the temperature in city came a little down and on Thursday maximum temperature recorded in the city was 36°C. However, rush of citizens was observed at Lahore Canal and other swimming pools where people were seen jumping and diving into water to cool themselves off. Met officials said seasonal low lies over north Balochistan with its trough extending south-eastwards. Weak moist currents are penetrating in eastern parts of the country. They predicted that hot and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country during day time. They predicted dust-thunderstorm/rain with strong gusty winds at isolated places in Malakand, Hazara, Mardan, Peshawar, Kohat, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, DG Khan, Bahawalpur, Zhob divisions, Fata, Islamabad and Kashmir. Met officials added that dust-thunderstorm/rain with strong gusty winds is expected at few places of Shaheed Benazirabad, Larkana and Hyderabad divisions. Rain was recorded in various cities, including Jhelum, Murree, Mangla, Sialkot Cantt, Islamabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Rawalakot, Kotli, Muzaffarabad, Garhi Dupatta and Balakot.
