LAHORE:A 17-year-old girl died in an accidental shooting incident on Friday in the Sundar police jurisdiction.
According to her family, the accident occurred while Nimra was cleaning a cupboard at home. A pistol stored in the cupboard reportedly fell to the ground, discharging a bullet. The stray shot struck Nimra in the chest, resulting in her death on the spot. Police were informed, and the body was shifted to mortuary.
Two POs handed over to police
Punjab Police Friday got the custody of two proclaimed offenders (POs) from Interpol. According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, accused Ali Raza killed Zafar Iqbal over an old enmity in Bhagtanwala locality in Sargodha, and M Nadir had murdered M Din and M Bakhsh in the jurisdiction of Kot Mubarak police of Dera Ghazi Khan. The UAE police successfully arrested the criminals and handed them over to Punjab Police at the Lahore Airport.
25 detained over defying smog SOPs
The Punjab Police arrested 25 people, booked 56 and imposed over Rs800,000 fine on 448 people over defying smog regulations during the past 24 hours. Some 36 people were issued warnings.
A police spokesperson detailed the accused, who violated the smog protocols in different ways. The spokesman said during the last 24 hours, some 8,147 smoky vehicles were fined, and 766 were impounded.
Two bike thieves held
Data Darbar police Friday apprehended a two-member gang involved in motorcycle and rickshaw thefts. The police detained accused Iqbal and Allah Rakha and recovered six motorcycles, one rickshaw, illegal weapons, and master keys from their possession.
Meanwhile, Sadr division police detained drug peddlers identified as Ashfaq, Hamza, Aamir Masih, Hidayat Masih, and Nauman Ali from Satu Katla, Sundar, and Nawab Town localities and recovered 5.790 kg hashish and 50 litre liquor from them. Dolphin Squad and Police Response Unit during last 72 hours of snap checking arrested 236 suspects.
