Punjab Food Authority (PFA) confiscated adulterated red chilli powder and other food items, and sealed several food manufacturing unit s on Wednesday.
A team of PFA’s Ravi Town led by Director Operation Ayesha Mumtaz raided Noor Traders in Akbari Mandi and confiscated 1,500 kilograms of adulterated red chilli powder, turmeric powder and other spices. A criminal case was registered against the business owner and his three employees. A team of Samanabad Town sealed Sufi Bong Pai in Moon Market and Rana Dilber Sweets at Ayubia Market for worse hygienic conditions, using expired cooking oil and rotten vegetables and absence of date of manufacturing and expiry on finished products.
A team of Gulberg Town sealed Amritsari Hotel and Golden Naan Shop in Barkat Market and Butt Naan Shop in Ghalib Market for various violations, including absence of workers' medical certificates, dirty premises.
Data Town’s team sealed Malik Hotel and Sheikh Sweets in Sanda for dirty premises, presence of insects and other violations. A team of Nishtar Town sealed Crystal Juice Factory in Sheraz Town for using banned food colours and absence of date of expiry and manufacturing on finished products. The team also confiscated 500 litres of juice and other things from the factory while samples were also sent to laboratory for testing.
A team of Allama Iqbal Town sealed the storage area of IBL Operations in Maraka and sealed it for absence of record of purchases, operating without a business license, dirty premises and absence of workers' medical certificates. Rotten vegetables were also being used in the food products. Warning notices were also issued to Lala Akbar Hotel, Karachi Biryani and Meikong Restaurant in Barkat Market, Lazat Kada Sweets in Ghalib Market, King Foods and Gourmet Foods at Canal Road, Chairman Milk Shop and Laiba Milk Shop in Data Town and Riaz Bakery at Bagharian Chowk in Nishtar Town.
