DCs authorised to issue arms licences

LAHORE:Punjab Home Department has delegated various powers related to arms licence to deputy commissioners (DCs) for public convenience.

According to a spokesman for Punjab Home Department, the delegation of powers is notified under the Punjab Arms Rules 2023. According to the notification issued by the Punjab Home Department, the powers of transferring individual arms licence on inheritance basis, the authority to change weapon /bore in the existing category and increase the number of bullets and all the powers to issue duplicate arms licences are delegated to the Deputy Secretary (Judicial), Home Department and deputy commissioner concerned. Now there will be no need to come to Lahore from far-flung districts of Punjab to submit the application for these purposes. Deputy commissioners in the district concerned will be able to process these applications, the spokesman said.

Skilled education termed vital to earn foreign exchange

Former MNA and independent Director Overseas Pakistan Foundation Onaza Ehsan Butt Wednesday said quality and skilled education is vital to our youth to earn precious foreign exchange.

In a press statement, Onaza said Pakistan is getting billions of dollars through overseas Pakistanis to improve its economy. She said Federal Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain was keen to raise a positive image of the country in the world and is trying to give maximum support and facilities to overseas Pakistanis, who are contributing massively for the national economy. Onaza said Pakistan is facing multiple problems and challenges and we can better solve our problems by resorting to high technology education and value added skills.

She said Pakistan needs foreign exchange reserves and for this we all are trying our best to gain maximum support from all quarters. She stressed the need to explore new avenues for labour market. We need to diversify our sources of revenue and come up with innovative solutions. By giving skilled education to our youth and labour and empowering our human resources we can earn billions of dollars more, she maintained. She said Pakistan can get due advantage from Japan, South Korea, China and Germany by imparting languages of these countries to its youth and capitalizing these markets.
