PTI founding member gunned down

LAHORE: Dr Shahid Siddique Khan, one of the founding members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, was gunned down after Friday prayer in the area of Valencia Town.

The assailant fired five shots, of which four struck Dr Siddique, resulting in his death. Fortunately, Dr Siddique's son, who was present there, remained unharmed. Dr Shahid Siddique was also a well-known figure related to medical fraternity and also ran a hospital in the area of Johar Town. He also contested the 2002 general elections and remained a senior member of PTI Punjab organisation for more than a decade. PTI leadership has strongly condemned the killing and demanded stern action against the perpetrators of this act. The police have collected the bullet shells from the crime scene and have formed four teams dedicated to apprehending the shooters. The investigation is focusing on multiple aspects, including the possibility of target killing and business-related grudges. It is worth noting that this was not the first attack on him. In January, there was a murderous assault on him in the Chuhng area, an incident in which the police failed to make any progress. IGP has taken notice of the aforesaid murder and sought a report from DIG Operations. He ordered the immediate arrest of those involved in the shooting, instructing that all resources be used for their arrest.
