LAHORE:Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has accelerated construction work on the Controlled Access Corridor Bund Road project to meet the deadline given by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
LDA DG Tahir Farooq on Monday visited the project site where LDA Chief Engineer Israr Saeed, contractor, project director and Nespak officials briefed him about the ongoing work. LDA DG reviewed the daily targets and directed that the remaining works of the project should be completed on the deadline in any case.
Israr Saeed told that asphalt has been completed on the sections and lane marking was in progress. water bound process was in progress on the 1.8 km section four while work was going on round the clock, he added. He said the construction of toll plaza from Babu Sabu Chowk to the corridor was in progress. Despite the interruption of monsoon rains, the construction work on the service road was in the final stages of completion.
Petrol pump site sealed over non-payment
On the instructions of LDA DG Tahir Farooq, LDA teams sealed a petrol pump site covering seven kanal area in Civic Centre, Quaid-i-Azam Town for non-payment of the lease amount. Director Housing Zafar Iqbal supervised the operation in which LDA teams took possession of the site. The enforcement wing and the police participated in the operation.
Zafar Iqbal said that millions of rupees were due towards the lease of the sealed petrol pump and several notices were also given to the owners before the operation.
Furthermore, an important meeting was held under the chairmanship of LDA DG regarding the sifting of LDA records. Additional DG Housing Awais Mushtaq and Chief IT Officer Abdul Basit gave a briefing in the meeting.
It was decided in the meeting that various software being used at LDA’s One Windows will be phased out gradually and a single software will be introduced named "Digital File Processing". It was told in the meeting that more than 22 million has been recovered from access area in Johar Town through the sifting process.
LDA DG directed that the mechanism of one-click processing of sifted, fully cleared files should be implemented soon. He directed that the monitoring process be tightened to ensure speedy processing of applications in the sifting cell and SOPs for processing non-sifted files should be reviewed to reduce the timeline.
LDA DG said that the directors of housing concerned and the focal person should be present at one window during the specified working hours to solve the problems faced by the citizens. In order to make LDA a paperless institution, the swift completion of the sifting process was the permanent solution, he said adding no compromise will be made on the sifting of LDA record.
