LAHORE:The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) will launch a new Punjab Sales Tax on Services (PSTS) return in August 2024, aiming for an integrated, automated, and paperless tax system.
According to a press release, spokesperson for PRA stated that this web-based, interactive system will automate calculations, checks, validations, and verifications, reducing revenue loss risks.
Taxpayers can e-file returns, request extensions, and submit revisions online, eliminating the need to visit PRA offices. The system also allows tax officers to issue e-notices and manage approvals. Extensive testing and user training will precede the launch, with user guides available on the PRA website.
In FY 2023-24, under the direction of Finance Minister Mujtaba Shuja ur Rehman, PRA introduced new IT initiatives and checks to enhance efficiency. The online registration process is instant, providing login details via email and text. Tax officers can issue and monitor e-notices, improving organisational efficiency.
