LWMC initiates cleaning operation for Ashura processions

LAHORE:The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) Tuesday initiated a comprehensive cleaning operation to ensure clean environment for the participants of Ashura processions.

In this connection, leaves for all officers and staff of the operation team have been canceled to keep Imambargahs and processions routes clean. Talking to reporters, LWMC Chief Executive Officer Babar Sahib Din said over 900 LWMC workers are dedicated to maintaining cleanliness at Imambargahs and processions routes.

He said graveyards would also be kept clean. According to LWMC spokesperson Umar Chaudhry, cleaning teams are focusing on routes from Mochi Gate to Karbala Gamay Shah, Shadman to Shah Jamal, Pandu Street Islampura to Old Anarkali, Ali Raza Abad Raiwind, and Thokar village.

Special cleaning operations are also underway in the areas surrounding Miyani Sahib Graveyard, Baba Jameel Shah, Shahdara Graveyard, Mughlia Graveyard, Baghbanpura Kashmiri Graveyard, Basti Saidan Shah Graveyard, Boharwala Graveyard, and Mian Mir Graveyard near Bara Dari.

The cleaning operation will continue until the conclusion of processions. The CEO emphasised that since the 1st of Muharram, special cleaning measures have been implemented at 120 major Imambargahs in the city, with extraordinary efforts on procession routes.
