At least 10,000 officers and Jawans will perform security duty at Sehri, Iftar and Tarawih times during the month of Ramazan.
This was stated by the Lahore CCPO during a meeting with the members of Peace Committee at Qila Gujjar Singh Police Lines on Tuesday.
He said that Lahore police would utilise all resources to ensure foolproof security in Ramadan. He directed the divisional SPs to check the mosques and Imambargahs of A category and ensure deployment of officials at Sehri, Iftar and Tarawih times. He said that commandos and snipers would be deployed at the rooftops of sensitive mosques and Imambargahs. He said that parking stands would be established at least 100 yards away from the mosques and Imambargahs. Officials of Dolphin Force and PRU would patrol around the sensitive mosques and Imambargahs, he added.
Woman dies: A woman was killed and two other people sustained injuries when a speeding car hit a rickshaw in the Kahna area on Tuesday.
A rashly-driven car hit a rickshaw, as a result of which, three people, including a woman, sustained injuries. The car rider drove away from the scene. The injured were rushed to hospital where the woman succumbed to her injuries.
Two found dead: Two people were found dead in different parts of the city on Tuesday.
A 40-year-old man was found dead in the jurisdiction of Ichhra police. A 45-year-old man was found dead in the Bhatti Gate police area.
encroachers: The City Traffic Police registered 5,484 cases against encroachers in various police stations of the city.
The traffic police also took action against 19,135 underage drivers.
accidents: Total 709 road accidents were reported to the Provincial Monitoring Cell of Punjab Emergency Service, Rescue 1122, from all 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. Eight people were killed and 585 critically injured in the accidents.
Drive: In order to educate the public to use the pedestrian bridges for road crossing, National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP) N-5 Sector-I has launched a special campaign in which students of various local schools are working as NH&MP volunteers.
The schoolchildren along with the motorway police officers briefed the public on the campaign.
