LAHORE:A 30-year-old man and his 12-year-old son died after roof of an Imambargah co lapsed in Bhatti Gate here on Monday. Ashiq Hussain alias Nonay Shah had established an Imambargah in Hakeem Wala Bazaar. The roof of the Imambargah was made up of TR Garder, which suddenly collapsed. As a result, two people were trapped under the debris. Nearby people called rescue teams.
The rescuers rushed to the spot, removed the debris and shifted the victims to hospital where they could not survive. They were identified as Safdar Shah and Hasnain Safdar. In another incident in Chungi Amar Sadhu, a 50-year-old sanitary worker died after drowning in a drain. The victim was busy cleaning the drain when he slipped into it and died. His body was moved to morgue.
Man held for making fake call on police helpline
Shahdara Town police Monday arrested a suspect on charges of making a fake call on 15 about bike theft. Reportedly, a local went to Jahangir Tomb on his motorcycle where his friend borrowed it from him.
Later, when his friend refused to return the motorcycle to him, he made a fake call on 15 and told police that his motorcycle was stolen from Sheikh Raja Chowk. Police lodged the investigations into the matter. When grilled they explained all the matter before police.
Rape bid foiled; suspect arrested
Chuhng police Monday arrested a suspect on charges of making an attempt to assault a five-year-old girl. Accused Bilal lured the girl and took her to a location where he tried to rape her, but fled the scene when the girl started crying. The police arrested the accused and registered a case against him.
Eight die in road accidents in Punjab
Around eight people died, whereas 1,301 were injured in 1,182 road traffic accidents in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. Out of these, 607 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 694 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue medical teams.
Two robbers held
Sabzazar police Monday claimed to have arrested two members of a suspected robbers’ gang. The police detained accused identified as Burhan and Usman, and also recovered illegal weapons, motorcycles and other things from their possession. They were involved in many crime incidents.
