LAHORE:Valuables worth millions of rupees reduced to ashes after a fire broke out in a medicine godown situated at Gulberg-II.
The godown was established at an open area in an under-construction building. The oxygen gas cylinders and medicine were stored there. The fire broke out in the godown at 9:15am due to the unknown reason. Due to presence of highly combustible material, it turned into a huge fire engulfing the whole building.
Fire-fighters reached the spot on information and launched the operation. After hectic efforts, the fire was controlled at around 12:30pm. Another fire incident was reported in a marque near Police Lines McLeod Road. No loss of life or injury was reported in these incidents.
Two bike thieves arrested
Johar Town Police arrested two members of a Khalidi bike thieves gang. The arrested suspects were identified as Khalid and Shahbaz. Police recovered one motorbike, one rickshaw, one cellphone and a pistol from their custody. Police said that the suspects were history sheeters and confessed to many bids.
Man dies in road accident
A 28-year-old man died in a road accident on Ring Road near Askari-10. Reportedly, the victim was riding a car. As he reached near Askari-10 road, he collided with another car. As a result, the victim lost control of the vehicle and hit the footpath, pole.
He received serious injuries and died. The other suspected driver fled from the scene. Traffic police officials and nearby people reached the spot and helped move the victim identified as Asghar to morgue.
Boy drowns in drain
A 14-year-old boy died after drowning in a drain near Mehmood Booti. The victim reportedly had slipped into the drain accidentally near Aliya Town and drowned. Nearby people tried to rescue him and called Rescue 1122 helpline. A team reached the spot, fished out the victim's body and handed over to the victim's family. The victim was identified as Ghulam Abbas.
