LAHORE: IG Dr Usman Anwar has said a comprehensive security plan should be formed for all the districts of the province including Lahore to ensure peaceful religious processions and gatherings on Muharram. He expressed these views while issuing instructions to all the supervisory officers of the province in the Central Police Office here on Tuesday. All issues should be resolved in advance through consultation with scholars from all schools of thought and peace committees. He directed the RPOs and DPOs to personally supervise security arrangements and emphasised that modern equipment and technology, including CCTV cameras, walk-through gates, and metal detectors, should be fully utilised for the security of sensitive processions and gatherings. Dr Usman Anwar emphasised ensuring timely registration of FIRs, merit-based investigations and timely challaning of cases.
Meanwhile, IG Punjab met with police employees and their families at the Central Police Office. He listened to the issues and received applications presented by the
police employees and issued orders for relief. IG Punjab forwarded the recruitment
request of the late Head Constable M Afzal's daughter on family claim to AIG Admin for necessary action.
