While addressing a press conference at Lahore General Hospital on Wednesday, YDA President Dr Shoaib Niazi said that it is the responsibility of the state to provide protection to the doctors. In Sargodha, doctors were tortured and the police remained silent spectators. YDA has been demanding legislation/security bill for protection of doctors for many years, but Punjab government had never heeded to their request.

"The doctors are being tortured due to lack of facilities in hospitals," he added. YDA Punjab demanded the government provide security to doctors in all hospitals. The health card scheme should be resumed. If our demands are not accepted, YDA will protest by closing OPDs in hospitals across Punjab from Monday, June 3, 2024. "The protest will continue till the acceptance of our demands," he added.
