Rs1.6m released for cops’ treatment

LAHORE: IGP Punjab Dr Usman Anwar released Rs1.6 million for officials in field formations, including Lahore, for family medical treatments.

ASI Ghulam Ali received Rs5 lakh for his daughter's kidney failure, Inspector Tufail Meeran got Rs2.5 lakh for his polio-affected daughter, ASI Iftikhar Hussain and Sub-Inspector Mureed Abbas each received Rs2.5 lakh for their children's cancer treatment. Constables Waheed-ur-Rehman and Abbas Ali got Rs1 lakh each, while Constable Khurram Shahzad received Rs70,000 for his daughter. Senior Clerk Rafiqud Din got Rs46,527, and driver constable Mujahid Muslim received Rs37,364. IG released the funds after Welfare Management Committee approval.

Meanwhile, IG Punjab awarded certificates of appreciation and cash prizes to officers and officials who demonstrated excellent performance in eradicating crime. One police team from Lahore, four teams from Sheikhupura, seven teams each from Kasur and Nankana, and one from Jhelum were among the recipients of the awards.
