Anti-dengue operations to be intensified

LAHORE : Provincial Health Minister and Chairman Cabinet Committee Khawaja Salman Rafique said that anti-dengue operations are being reviewed at the regional level and these operations will be intensified across the province.

He said that surveillance of dengue hotspots in each zone is critical. Surveillance of graveyards, tyre shops, mosques, under-construction buildings, educational institutions and other important places is essential.

The provincial health minister said this while presiding over a meeting regarding the prevention of dengue in the office of Assistant Commissioner Shalimar Town on Saturday.

Director CDC Dr Yadullah, CEO Lahore Dr. Faisal, Assistant Commissioner Shalimar Town Lahore Dr Anam Fatima, representatives of Department of Agriculture, Environment, Lesco, Forestry, Education, MCL, Punjab Food Authority and other departments were also present in the meeting. Prof Waseem Akram participated in the meeting through video link.

The provincial health minister reviewed the anti-dengue arrangements in Shalimar Town in detail during the meeting. Director CDC Dr. Yadullah, CEO Lahore Dr. Faisal and Assistant Commissioner Shalimar Town Dr Anam Fatima informed about the details of anti-dengue operations.

Dr Anam informed the minister about the details of anti-dengue operations from January 1 to May 17, 2024.

The minister said that Commissioner and Deputy Commissioners as well as Assistant Commissioners will have to take responsibility for anti-dengue operations to prevent the spread of dengue virus.

Anti-dengue teams ensure larvae detection and strict action should be taken on violation of SOPs.

He said common people also have to take precautionary measures to control dengue. Be sure to upload the anti-dengue operations on the dashboard and suspected, probable and confirmed cases of dengue should be reported from all hospitals. Focal persons of all departments should ensure their participation in anti-dengue meeting at district and regional level.

Clean and Green Punjab is the top priority of Punjab Chief Minister, he added.

Prof Waseem Akram on this occasion said that we have to be proactive to control dengue virus. All the departments have to work together. We are bringing a new and successful model to control dengue virus, he said.

Minister attends patient’s birthday in hospital

Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique reached Jinnah Hospital Lahore to celebrate the birthday of Mansoor-a successful renal transplant recipient.

Principal Allama Iqbal Medical College Prof Syed Asghar Naqi, Head of Department Prof Naveed Iqbal, MS Dr Yahya Sultan, Assistant Professor Dr Shabbir and other faculty were present on the occasion. Dr Hamza Nazir and Dr Kashif Shabbir were also present on the occasion.

The minister cut Mansoor's birthday cake and congratulated his mother on the successful surgery.

A bouquet of flowers was presented to the child. On the occasion, the minister said he congratulates the entire team of Jinnah Hospital Lahore for the successful renal transplant of the baby. He said we will increase the capacity of Urology Department of Jinnah Hospital Lahore. Mansoor wants to become an engineer. The minister said under the leadership of the Punjab Chief Minister efforts were being made to facilitate patients.
