The incident took place on the road leading from the Canal Bank Road towards the Tikka Chowk near G-1 Market. Local residents said the road suddenly caved in resulting in a medium size crater, which may expand further. The crater appeared on the opposite side of Dua Chowk on the double road. They said during the school timing a good number of vehicles used this road and due to the crater traffic was also blocked. They said various calls were made to LDA especially to the officers of its engineering wings but no one came to the spot. It is pertinent to mention here that similar type of craters were also reported on various roads of Johar Town in the past.

Residents said this was happening due to the negligence of the officers concerned as they allegedly didn’t check the quality of the road construction material at the time of construction. However, residents of the area appealed the DG LDA Tahir Farooq to take up the issue immediately and direct the concerned officers to fix this problem. When contacted, LDA DG said he has conveyed the message to the officers concerned and the issue will be resolved soon.
