‘Health Facility at Doorstep’ project to be launched soon: minister

LAHORE:Provincial Minister for Primary and Secondary Healthcare Kh Imran Nazir on Sunday said that under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the ‘Health Facility at Doorstep’ programme is being launched very soon for the people.

He said under the programme, the ultrasound tests including hepatitis, diabetes and other diseases drugs will also be delivered to the homes of the patients. A mechanism for delivery of insulin and other drugs has been devised, he added.

Kh Imran Nazir expressed these views while presiding over a meeting along with Provincial Health Minister Kh Salman Rafiq regarding the availability of diabetes medicines including insulin. The meeting reviewed preparation of insulin for diabetic patients.

Secretary Health Ali Jan Khan, Dr. Adnan, Dr. Zahid Pervez, Dr. Usman, Special Secretary Health Raja Mansoor and CEO PHFMC Dr. Asim Altaf was also present. Kh Imran Nazir said that insulin is available in abundance in the hospitals and the international companies will be urged for the production and manufacturing of world class insulin in Punjab. A technical committee is being formed in this regard.

Provincial Health Minister Kh Salman Rafique, on the occasion, said that the chief minister is taking special interest in bringing medical facilities to the people's doorsteps. Through clinics on wheels, basic health facilities will be provided in slum areas of cities and rural communities. He said that the process of revamping government hospitals is being completed rapidly.
