Eid ul Fitr is right around the corner, and for students in Saudi Arabia, the joyous occasion will begin very soon because by the end of this week (March 29) they will mark the start of a long holiday.
This year, Eid ul Fitr vacation will begin from Friday after classes will be suspended on Thursday, Al Arabiya reported citing the education ministry's academic calendar.
According to the calendar, Eid ul Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, is expected to fall on or around April 10.
Saudi Arabia marked the beginning of Ramadan, the month where Muslims fast from dawn till dusk. As a result, students will begin their time off for Eid during the last few days of the holy month.
Additionally, the calendar shows that the long vacation will end on April 15 with resumption of classes.
During Ramadan, Muslims around the world refrain from eating and drinking for a few hours. Throughout the month, work and school hours are usually reduced.
Earlier this month, the Kingdom's Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development had announced that employees will observe a four-day holiday in April for Eid ul Fitr.
Employees in Saudi Arabia will get four holidays from Monday, April 8 and with Friday and Saturday the official weekend days in the Kingdom.
