Five of a family rescued; 12 shops burnt in Moon Market fire

LAHORE:Five members of a family were rescued while 12 shops were burnt in a fire incident reported in Moon Market, Iqbal Town.

Reportedly, the fire broke out in a shop. A family lived in the upper portion of the building was trapped. In a short span of time, the fire spread to the other adjacent shops. As a result, 12 shops were affected. Fire-fighters reached the spot on information, evacuated the trapped people and extinguished the fire. A fire incident was also reported in a restaurant in the Fatehgarh area. In yet another incident, fire broke out in the house in Shahdara Town. A family member received injuries. He was shifted to hospital.

Two rickshaw thieves arrested

Ravi Road Police arrested two members of Sajid Langra rickshaw thieves gang. The arrested suspects were identified as Sajid Langra and Sabir. The suspects would lure the victims using different tactics, trap them and snatch their rickshaw. Two rickshaws and drugs were recovered from them.

453 beggary cases registered

Some 453 cases of beggary have been registered so far since the start of this year by Lahore Police. According to a police spokesman, 452 accused have been arrested. CCPO Bilal Siddique Kamyana has ordered strict crackdown on beggar mafia and said beggars should not be allowed to stand on traffic signals, squares and main roads.
