LAHORE : Moderate to light rain following scattered hailstorm was witnessed here in the City on Thursday while Met office predicted partly cloudy weather for the next 24 hours.
Met officials warned that heavy rainfall may cause flash flooding in local drains of Barkhan, Kohlu, Sibbi, Naseerabad, Dalbandin and Khuzdar on Friday (today) and Saturday (tomorrow).
They said a westerly wave was present over upper parts of the country and was likely to affect southern and western parts. They predicted that cold and partly cloudy weather was expected in most parts of the country. However, rain-wind/thunderstorm (snowfall over mountain) was expected in Balochistan, Sindh and western Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. Rainfall was also recorded at several cities, including Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Garhi Dupatta, Kotli, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Mandi Bahauddin, Mangla, Sialkot, Narowal, Jhelum, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Gujrat, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Attock, Chakwal, Hafizabad, Jhang, Kakul, Balakot, Patan, Dir, Malam Jabba, Kalam, Cherat, Saidu Sharif, Mir Khani, Drosh, Chitral, Parachinar, Peshawar, Astore, Bunji, Chilas and Gupis while snowfall was recorded in Malam Jabba, Kalam, Murree and Chitral.
Thursday’s minimum temperature was recorded at Leh where mercury dropped to -07°C while in Lahore, it was 9.3°C and maximum was 19.5°C.
