Two robbers killed in ‘encounters’

LAHORE : Two suspected robbers were killed and a robber was injured in three police encounters in different parts of the City. The first case was reported in Garhi Shahu where four suspects allegedly were looting citizens at a picket. A police team responded. On seeing police, they allegedly resorted to firing. In exchange of firing, a suspect identified as Imran alias Gogi received bullet injuries and died. The other suspects fled from the scene. He reportedly was wanted in an encounter in Old Anarkali after a bank robbery.

An encounter was reported in Shahdara Town where a suspected robber was killed on Kala Khatai Road. The suspect Faizan Khan alias Haitoo a few days back had stabbed and injured a citizen with a knife over suspicion of spying for police. He was a hardened criminal and was involved in many cases.

The third case was reported in Defence where a Dolphin team had signalled to stop the suspects near Bangali Chowk. However, they resorted to firing. In exchange of firing, a suspected robber was shot at and injured. He has been identified as Yasir. He allegedly was involved in many cases. Police said that they were investigating the matter further.

Two ASIs booked as robber escapes from police custody

A suspected robber in police custody fled from cantonment Katcheri here on Monday.

The suspect identified as Tayyab alias Jutt was arrested. He was wanted in multiple robbery cases. The suspect was presented before court. However, he reportedly fled from the custody. Two ASIs identified as ASI Asif Ali and ASI Hasnain Gilani have been booked for negligence in duty. Police said they were investigating the matter.

Rs17 lakh released for cops’ treatment

IG Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar has released another 17 lakh rupees for the medical expenses of nine officials of different districts of the province.

According to the details Ghazi Head Constable Faheem Saleem of Lahore Police was given Rs03 lakh for medical expenses. Faisalabad police’s Ghazi Constable M Aurangzeb was given Rs03 lakh for medical expenses. Injured sub-inspector M Afzal of Special Branch Gujranwala was given Rs03 lakh for treatment. Lahore Police Ghazi ASI Tariq Mehmood and Ghazi Head Constable Usman Amanat were given Rs02 lakh each for treatment.

Lahore Police Ghazi Constable Anees Ahmed and Special Branch Constable Syed Imran Ali Shah were given Rs01 lakh each for medical expenses. Lahore Police Ghazi Head Constable Tahir Mehmood and Ghazi Constable Arshad Ali were given Rs01 lakh each for treatment.

Meanwhile, a delegation of a private welfare organization called on IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar at the Central Police Office.

The delegation from Okara, led by Rana M Imran, included female students receiving training in entrepreneurship and business start-up. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar directed DPO Okara to organise a women's cricket match with the student team. IG Punjab said that the private organisation has also conducted short courses on business start-up for women in collaboration with Tahaffuz markaz Okara, through which the students have gained awareness about digital working.

Man shot dead

A 40-year-old man was shot dead by the unidentified suspects in Shahdara. The victim identified as Iftikhar was riding a bike. As he reached near Saggian Bridge, the unidentified suspects intercepted and opened firing at the victim. He received five bullet injuries. He reportedly had exchanged of harsh words with a person over a minor issue. Police said that they were investigating the matter.

Child sustains burns

A four-year-old child was injured in a domestic fire incident in Johar Town. The victim Ahsan was in his bed. He reportedly lit a lighter and burnt a cushion. It caught fire. The victim received injuries and was shifted to hospital.
