LAHORE:Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi taking notice of the incident at a private hospital has removed Organised Crime Unit (CIA) DIG Capt (r) Liaqat Ali Malik from his post.
S&GAD Department has also issued notification in this regard. Heavy contingents of CIA Police had reached the hospital after DIG Liaqat Malik had a heated argument with the staff of the hospital over the treatment of his father. CIA police led by Muhammad Ali Butt subjected the hospital staff to torture and created mess.
Police also subjected journalists, including Mudassar Tatla and Mujahid Sheikh to torture over coverage. It's learnt that the father of a senior DIG Organised Crime Unit Lahore Capt (r) Liaqat Ali Malik was undergoing treatment in the hospital. The top police officer had an argument over the delayed lab tests and also reportedly over bill. A heavy contingent of CIA police was called to the spot. CIA police tortured the hospital staff and took the hospital staff hostage. The police officers also seized the DVR.
Meanwhile, the families of the patients taking benefit of the situation expressed their anger at the hospital. They alleged that doctors had started collecting Rs6 million from pneumonia patients while the staff charge started Rs18,500 for a capsule of Rs2,500 value.
They alleged that after five days a new doctor comes and asks the family of the patient what is the problem of your patient as no doctor allegedly reads the file. They said the administration is charging Rs250,000 for keeping a patient on ventilator for one day. Following the incident, CCPO Lahore reached the spot and reviewed situation.
