LAHORE
City District Government Lahore (CDGL) will establish 28 Ramazan bazaars in the provincial metropolis to ensure provision of necessary food items on controlled rates.
This was revealed by Lahore DCO Capt (R) Muhammad Usman while chairing a meeting here Wednesday. He said the planned Ramazan arrangements would be better than that of previous year. He said CDGL would surely utilise all its resources to provide maximum facilities to the citizens.
The DCO revealed that along with the establishment of Ramazan bazaars, the CDGL would also establish free Dastarkhawans in the city. He said that committees consisting of official concerned for the purchase and supply of fruit, vegetable and flour had also been nominated, which are currently involved in preparation.
Ramazan bazaars will be established in all nine towns of the city. In Gulberg Town, these bazaars will be established at Model Town Link Road, Makkah Colony, Barkat Market and at Bab-e-Pakistan Walton Road. In Nishtar Town, these bazaars will be established at Township, Nishtar Colony, Kahna Nau. In Ravi Town, these bazaars will be established at Chowk Begum Kot Shahdara, Outside Delhi Gate and General Buss Stand, Shahdara Town. In Samanabad Town, these bazaars will be established at Wahdat Colony, Gulshan-e-Ravi, Moon Market, Allama Iqbal Town and Nadeem Shaheed Road.
In DGBT, these bazaars will be established at Shadman and Islampura. In Iqbal Town, these bazaars will be established at Johar Town, Sabzazar and Thokar Niaz Beig.
In Wahga Town, only one Ramazan bazaar will be established at Jallo More; in Shalimar Town, they will be at Gol Ground Shadbagh, Singhpura GT Road and China Scheme while in Aziz Bhatti Town these bazaars will be established at Harbanspura More, Ghaziabad and Chungi.
The Lahore DCO further directed to install walk-through gates and CCTV cameras at all the planned Ramazan Bazaars while security measures will also be taken to avoid any untoward incident. The DCO Lahore also directed to ensure that no child would be allowed to work in Ramazan Bazaars shops.
profiteers: Price Control Magistrates of the City District Government Lahore (CDGL) continued action against profiteers and arrested 69 people for overcharging on Wednesday.
The CDGL officials said 683 raids were conducted across the city and price control magistrates arrested 69 people out of which 26 were sent to jail by the magistrates after hearing them on the spot. A fine of total of Rs 29,000 was imposed on the profiteers.
