Fertilizer shortage to end soon, hopes CM

LAHORE:Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the three development projects in the City here on Sunday.

Mohsin Naqvi said that the Prime Minister had immediately issued directions to the federal ministers regarding urea fertilizer shortage. Mohsin Naqvi disclosed that 2lakh tonnes surplus urea fertilizer will reach seaport by 20th December which will eliminate its shortage. It is our utmost strive to overcome the shortage of urea fertilizer soon.

While talking with the media persons during his visit to the Controlled Access Corridor Bund Road project, the CM stated that the Controlled Access Corridor Bund Road is a mega project; 40 percent work on the one package while 24 percent work on the second package has been completed. The Bund Road project will be completed on time and we will continue to update on its progress.

The CM informed that he has talked with the Prime Minister regarding early completion of Imamia Colony flyover project. Hopefully, the Prime Minister by taking notice will get Imamia Colony flyover project completed at the earliest.

I have also talked with the Prime Minister to overcome the shortage of urea fertilizer. The Prime Minister has immediately issued directions to the Federal Ministers regarding urea fertilizer shortage.

It is our utmost strive to overcome the shortage of urea fertilizer soon. Crackdown on urea fertilizer hoarders was ongoing. Prompt steps will be taken wherever urea fertilizer shortage occurs in the province.

The CM remarked that we are starting our going back journey and will leave after completing the term. Hopefully, whosoever next CM comes will perform nicely. A project has been launched for the international certification of free lancers. The Punjab government by spending 50- 60 dollars will get international certification of the free lancers.

The caretaker chief minister inspected the side roads of Shahdara flyover, new Ravi Bridge and side roads of the Bedian underpass. The CM was briefed about the construction of the side roads of Shahdara flyover along with progress being made on the construction of drain and roundabouts.

The CM while ordering early completion of the side roads of Shahdara flyovers project asserted that no further delay should occur in the completion of the project keeping in view difficulties being faced by the people. Mohsin Naqvi monitored the piling process for the construction of a bridge at River Ravi. It was informed during the briefing that 52 piles for the Ravi bridge would be built. Piling process is being done with caution due to the river.

The chief minister also visited Bedian underpass project and reviewed the quality of construction work of the side roads. He lauded the quality construction work of the Bedian underpass project and commended the whole LDA team. Provincial Ministers Amir Mir, Azfar Ali Nasir, Secretary Housing, Commissioner Lahore, Deputy Commissioner, LWMC DG, LDA Chief Engineer and other officials concerned were also present on the occasion.

Mohsin Naqvi also visited both packages of the Controlled Access Corridor Bund Road project. He conducted a detailed monitoring of the whole 3.7km route from Saggian up to Niazi Chowk and from Babu Sabu up to Saggian.

He reviewed ongoing construction activities on both the packages and monitored construction activities of the side walls of Package 1 along with concrete laying work. The CM reviewed the process of laying boulder frames at the side walls and expressed his satisfaction on the pace of work on the Package 1.

He directed to speed up pace of work on the Package 2 and issued directions to the contractor to complete the project within stipulated time. The CM directed deputy commissioner to immediately eliminate encroachments on the roads surrounding the project.

Mohsin Naqvi was given a briefing on the progress being made on the project. On the whole, 24 percent work on the Package 2 project from Babu Sabu up to Saggian while 40 percent work on the Package 1 from Saggian up to Niazi Chowk has been completed; 33 out of 34 girders of Package 1 whereas 38 out of 51 girders of Package 2 have been completed Work on others is ongoing.3100 panels of Package 1 have been installed whereas 551 panels of Package 2 have been installed while 1,900 panels are ready.

Work on 9 subways linked with both the packages is ongoing simultaneously 24 hours’ work is ongoing with swift pace on the project.

Provincial Ministers Amir Mir, Azfar Ali Nasir, Secretary Housing, Commissioner Lahore/ DG LDA, Deputy Commissioner, Wasa MD and officials concerned were also present on the occasion.

Punjab canals to undergo desilting after 10 years

Following the instruction by the caretaker chief minister, 1,112 canals of Punjab will undergo desilting after 10 years. Canals desilting will start from 26th December and will continue till 20th January.

The chief minister presided over a meeting at CM’s Office in which steps being undertaken for the desilting programme and eradication of canal water theft were reviewed. Mohsin Naqvi assigned a monitoring task to all the divisional commissioners for the canals desilting and directed the Commissioners to remain in the field during canals desilting.

While ordering to undertake an effective action for the eradication of canal water theft, he directed the administrative officers to launch an effective crackdown in their districts concerned in this regard.

Felicitates cricket team

The CM while congratulating the national cricket team on clinching a victory against its traditional opponent India lauded that the cricketers earned a victory in their name by outplaying the Indian team in every department.
