LAHORE: Ambassador of Pakistan to Morocco, Sami Malik, called on Punjab Governor, Muhammad Balighur Rehman at Governor’s House here on Sunday.
During the meeting, issues of mutual interest and promotion of bilateral cooperation in various fields were discussed. Governor congratulated the newly-appointed ambassador and extended his best wishes to him.
Speaking on the occasion, governor said that Pakistan and Morocco have cordial relations. He expressed the hope that Pakistan's envoy would take these relations to new heights in various fields, especially education, trade, and tourism.
Governor underscored the need to start a student exchange programme between the two countries, adding that this would promote cooperation between Pakistan and Morocco in the field of education. Governor said that the country's economy is improving and Pakistan has a conducive environment for investors. He said that a Special Investment Facilitation Council has also been established to facilitate investment in Pakistan by foreign investors.
He stated that there are vast opportunities for Moroccan investors to invest in various sectors in Pakistan. The governor asked the envoy to resolve the issue of delays in obtaining visa. The ambassador assured him of all possible cooperation in this regard. Ambassador said that he was working on a student exchange programme between Pakistan and Morocco. He said that he would play his role in promoting bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Morocco in the field of education, trade and tourism.

On this occasion, Professor from Commonwealth University, Pennsylvania Dr Steven Granich, Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasir Mehmood, Director Centre for Civility and Integrity Development Director Dr Shabbir Ahmad and Chairperson Department of Media and Development Communication Dr Ayesha Ashfaq presented their thoughts with students and academicians who attended the webinar.
The speakers indulged in debate to know the mode of higher education in the USA and Pakistan while knowing opportunities and challenges in both countries and lessons learnt from the developed world to improve the system of education in Pakistan.
