Body of youth, kidnapped for ransom, found in box

LAHORE:A decomposed body of a 25-year-old youth, who was kidnapped five days ago for ransom, was found in a box in the North Cantt area.

The accused Osama, who happened to be the victim’s maternal cousin, first tried to dispose of the body, but failed and informed the police. The victim identified as Saqib Shafqat, a resident of Altaf Colony in North Cantt, went missing on Nov 29. On receiving the information about the disappearance, the police registered a case of kidnapping against the unknown accused on the complaint of the victim’s brother Asim.

The family had been searching for Saqib for four days but to no avail. Yesterday, the police arrested Osama and recovered the mutilated body of victim from a box at his house.

Saqib was killed at his aunt's house, a few streets away from his house. Osama and his family had been visiting the house of the victim and demanding Rs15 lakhs through SMS. The body was shifted to the morgue.

Man shot to death by robbers

A 56-year-old man was shot dead by the robbers in in Manga Mandi, Shamke Bhattian, on Sunday. The victim was identified as Yasin. Police collected evidence from the crime scene with the help of forensic teams. The incident appeared to be a result of resistance during the robbery. The body was shifted to the mortuary by Edhi Ambulance. Man dies in bike-tractor trolley collision

A 30-year-old man was killed and another was injured in a collision between a bike and a tractor trolley on Saggian Road on Sunday.

As per police, the speeding bike rammed into the tractor trolley, as a result of which one person died on the spot and the other sustained injuries. The injured identified as Munir was admitted to a local hospital. The body, yet to be identified, was shifted to the morgue.
