LAHORE: A three-day international conference delving into Allama Muhammad Iqbal’s philosophy of peace and progress with a tribute to the martyrs of Palestine concluded on Thursday.
Durmus Bastug Consul General of Türkiye participated in the closing ceremony and emphasised the importance of Iqbal’s teachings. Addressing the concluding session, Dr Faleeha Zahra Kazmi, Vice-Chancellor the University of Home Economics (UHE), said as many as some 70 research papers were presented, thoroughly discussing various facets of Allama Muhammad Iqbal’s philosophy at the conference.Dr Faleeha Zahra Kazmi dedicated the last day to honouring the martyrs of Palestine and condemned Israeli army’s actions in Gaza.
Prof Dr Nimet Yildirim, an academician from Türkiye, praised Iqbal for centering Eastern civilisation and thought in his teachings, presenting a profound concept of mutual peace and development through his poetry, speeches, and writings.
Dr Tanveer Qasim laid emphasis on the universal relevance of teachings of Allama Muhammad Iqbal and urged upon the Muslims to follow the teachings of the Poet of the East for progress.Dr Tanveer Qasim stressed the need of imparting awareness to younger generation about the thoughts of Iqbal.
Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) Vice-Chancellor Dr Shagufta Naz and faculty members from various educational institutions also attended the closing ceremony that was hosted at Lahore College for Women University.Certificates and shields were distributed among Iran, America, Tajikistan, and Turkey delegates.
A dinner was organised at Haveli Barood Khana to extend a warm welcome to foreign delegates, accompanied by a mesmerising rendition of Kalam-e-Iqbal. The attendees received insights into the historical significance of Haveli and the Walled City of Lahore.
