Call to promote Iqbal’s ideology

Prime Minister’s Adviser on National History and Literary HeritageIrfan Siddiqui Saturday underscored the need for formulating short and long-term programmes aimed at promoting the ideology of the great thinker and poet Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal (RA).

Chairing the 44th governing body meeting of Iqbal Academy Pakistan (IAP) here at Aiwan-e-Iqbal, he said the IAP must now pay serious attention towards targets and objectives for which it had been established.

According to a press release, the IAP governor body meeting also took various decisions pertaining to defreezing of IAP accounts, payment of pending dues to quarters concerned and publishing of books on the life and ideology of Allama Muhammad Iqbal.

A committee has been constituted to review Iqbal's publications, and it has also been entrusted to sort out accurate and credible manuscripts of Allama Iqbal (RA). The meeting also decided to publish books containing selected and special poetic verses of Allama Muhammad Iqbal (RA) for religious seminaries.

The meeting was attended by Barrister Zafarullah, IAP Vice President Muneeb Iqbal, National History and Literary Heritage's Federal Secretary Mohsin S. Haqaani, Dr Zulfiqar Soomro, Dr. Fakharul Islam, Dr Abdur Rauf Rafiqui, Dr. Pirzada Qasim, Dr Rafi-ud-Din Hashmi and IAP Director Sohail Mufti.
