Q1: Sir, my son is doing Certified Computer Professional Course. Please guide me what other courses he should also take along for his bright future. (Muhammad Ali - Karachi)
Ans: Computer science is a very huge area of specialty and also some very emerging sub-specialties for the future market. I am not aware of the courses that your son is currently doing but if you want my suggestion, please advise him to look at internet security and cyber crime.
Q2: Sir, I got 90% marks in Matric and 82% in FSc; 82% were not sufficient for me, so I decided to improve some subjects of FSc this year. After improvement I have a plan to appear in MCAT as I want to be a doctor. As you know admission in medical is not an easy job. I want to ask if I don’t get admission in medical, what I should do. Kindly give me a suggestion according to my subjects and scope. (Amna Khan - Islamabad)
Ans: I am sure if you have such keen interest in becoming a doctor you will certainly make it. However, you should not worry if you fail to get admission in medical. If biology is your favourite subject then there are huge opportunities in biological sciences where most of the research is being carried out especially in the sub-areas of molecular biology, bio-chemistry and genetic engineering.
Q3: I have done FSc in 2015 with 62% marks (Pre-Eng). In which department should I take admission? My interest is in BE I have small funds, kindly guide me. (Rana Riaz - Gujranwala)
Ans: I am sure you would be able to get admission in engineering areas in private institution. Computer science is another good area to look at if your interest is in IT. Most private universities do have a scholarship or fee discount policy for needy students.
Q4: I have recently done MSc Economics from Islamabad but now I am confused about my higher studies, whether I should do MA Finance or MS project management, should I postpone my MS and get some experience first. (Muhammad Shahid - Islamabad)
Ans: I agree that you should gain some experience before thinking about any further studies. This will give you the opportunity of interacting within your subject domain and look at the specialty you want to focus on.
Q5: My son is doing BS Economics. What are the future prospects of this degree and what line he should pursue i.e. work experience before a master degree or straight away going for a master’s degree? How he can seek a foreign scholarship for further studies. (Javed Iqbal - Hyderabad)
Ans: Economics is a very strong and well in demand area.
It has a number of offshoots and sub-specialties covering a huge domain that includes management and financial sector. Please let him stay on course encouraging him to work hard to get ‘A’ class BS Economics.
Q6: I have done BBA Hons with 3.45 CGPA. I will do MS Marketing. Kindly guide me according to my CGPA, which marketing field will be suitable for me or which marketing field has more scope?
(Shiraz Ali - Faisalabad)
Ans: You have obtained a very good CGPA which means you are a hard working student. If you would like to do marketing there is one area which is emerging and is ignored as well, Supply Chain Management. A number of universities are offering this degree at master level. I would encourage you to look at it.
