Corps commander, CM vow to make anti-terror efforts more effective

Corps Commander Lahore, Lt-Gen Sadiq Ali called on Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, here Tuesday. Overall situation regarding implementation of National Action Plan was discussed in the meeting.
The meeting decided to make coordinated security mechanism and civil-military joint coordination centre, which is already working under National Action Plan, more effective. The meeting stressed upon the need of coordinated and organised action against terrorism especially in the wake of recent suicide attack in Gulshan-e-Iqbal.
Progress on the operations continuing throughout the province was reviewed in the meeting. Besides, decision was taken to continue action against terrorist networks and their facilitators through strong collaboration between Army, Pakistan Rangers, CTD and police. The meeting concluded with the determination of making the efforts against terrorism in Punjab more effective with the cooperation of all concerned.
MEETING: Shahbaz Sharif presided over a meeting regarding Wheat Procurement Campaign 2016-17, here Tuesday. The meeting reviewed in detail the arrangements made for providing maximum facilities to the farmers at wheat procurement centres.
Addressing the meeting, Shahbaz Sharif said that 376 wheat procurement centres would be set up across the province and maximum facilities would be provided to the farmers at these centres. He said that like previous years, interest of cultivators would be protected this year as well. He said that due returns would be ensured to the farmers and no one would be allowed to exploit them. He said there was a bumper wheat crop this year and protection of interests of farmers would be ensured at every cost. Shahbaz Sharif said that an effective monitoring system had also been introduced with the help of information technology for ensuring transparency in wheat procurement process. He said that wheat would be procured from small cultivators on priority basis and he would personally supervise wheat procurement campaign.
He directed that arrangements should be made to facilitate the cultivators at procurement centres. He said that like previous years, process of distribution of gunny bags among the farmers would be fully transparent this year as well.
He said that all necessary measures would be taken for stability of wheat price and to ensure that cultivators were not affected by low wheat prices and recession in international market. He said that the process of distribution of gunny bags would be transparent and equitable and bags would be issued on first come first served basis.
Senator: Senior Vice-President of Pakistan Muslim League-N, Sindh Senator Saleem Zia called on Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, here Tuesday.
Matters of mutual interest, party affairs and political situation of the country were discussed in the meeting. Senator Saleem Zia condemned Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park terror attack on behalf of the PML-N Sindh .
