LAHORE
A man was killed and his brother wounded in the limits of Gujarpura police station on Sunday.
On the day of the incident, both the brothers Adnan and Waqas, shopkeepers by profession, were approached by some unidentified persons who drew their weapons and opened indiscriminate firing at them. As a result of which, both the brothers sustained fatal injuries. The unidentified assailants escaped from the scene. The injured brothers were taken to hospital where Adnan died while Waqas’s condition was also said to be precarious. Police shifted the body to morgue. Police said it appeared that the attack was linked to an old enmity. No case was registered till the filing of this report.
Kidnapping bid foiled: Police Response Unit Naulakha foiled a kidnapping attempt of two children here on Sunday.
An unidentified rickshaw driver kidnapped two children Fawad and Umar from Mohalla Kamarwala. However, the rickshaw driver dropped both the children in the Naulkaha area to avoid his arrest.
Police handed over the children to their parents. SP Mujahid announced cash prizes and appreciation certificates for the police team.
HIT TO DEATH: A 30-year-old woman was killed by a moving train in the Raiwind area on Sunday.The victim, yet to be identified, was crossing rail tracks when she came under the wheels of a moving train, resulting into her instant death. Body was removed to morgue.
DIES: A 55-year-old man expired in hospital on Sunday, almost a month after he was shot at and wounded by three persons in the Nawan Kot area over the issue of a local shrine’s possession.The accused identified as Kamran Shah, Zeeshan Shah and Umar had approached the victim Rana Tahir a month back and shot at and wounded him in order to take possession pf a shrine. The injured Tahir was admitted to hospital where he died on Sunday. Police shifted the body to morgue and converted the section 324 PPC into 302 PPC in the already registered FIR.
FIRE: Thirty people fainted when fire broke out on the 1st floor of a hotel on Mcleod Road on Sunday morning.Cause of fire was said to be short-circuit. On being informed, the firefighters rushed to the scene, used ladders to reach the affected portion of the building and extinguished fire after all the inmates, including guests and hotel employees were evacuated from the building. No casualty was reported in the said incident. However, various goods, including electronic appliances were reduced to ashes.
