Alanis Morissette recalls her difficult split from Ryan Reynolds

Alanis Morissette has finally broken the silence on her shocking split from Ryan Reynolds after nearly 20 years.

For those unversed, the Ironic singer began dating the Deadpool actor in 2002, and the two were engaged for three years.

After the separation, Ryan started dating Scarlett Johansson. However, the relationship did not last long and they separated in 2011 after 18 months of marriage. The Free Guy star then married Blake Lively in 2012.

In 2008, Alanis gave an interview to Howard Stern that went viral online.

During the interview, the Grammy-winning singer tried to laugh off probing questions about her intimate life. Recalling the difficult interview, Alanis says now, “It felt like the ongoing normalization of me being invisible.”

“I have a million questions I could ask back that would be equally inappropriate. It just became normalised to hurt women every day, call her a b****, tell her she's a slut,” the 52-year-old told The Sunday Times Style.

Alanis and Ryan parted ways in 2007.

In 2010, Alanis exchanged vows the rapper Souleye. "There are just so many qualities in him that were slam-dunky," she said about her husband.

"If I would talk about something on a date, typically the person would look at me quizzically like I was strange. It was the complete opposite with Souleye. He had zero desire to clip my wings,” she added.
