Dune releases worldwide, and lead actor Timothee Chalamet redefines what a male actor can look like as he appears on the cover of magazines or walks the red carpet.

Timothee Chalamet
and Dune

Before The Matrix or even Star Wars, there was Dune, which was (and still is) considered one of the greatest science-fiction novels. Authored by Frank Herbert, the first book in the series, Dune, has had a Hollywood adaptation with more to follow. With an extensive and prolific cast and helmed by one of the greatest
directors of this generation, Denis Villeneuve, Dune is well on its way to being a global success. As the film appears in cinemas across the globe with Covid-19 fears somewhat alleviated by vaccines (not a cure), its lead actor Timothee Chalamet is all anyone can talk about. Appearing on the cover of a few magazines, what is most striking is how the 25-year-old Oscar-nominated actor has stayed away from channeling toxic masculinity and the alpha male via his wardrobe during cover stories and on the red carpet, serving gender fluid looks instead.

Time Magazine

"It’s a combination of luck and getting good advice early in my career not to pigeonhole myself,” said Timothee Chalamet in his Time Magazine interview last month. Seen in a black polo neck on the cover of the magazine, he appears the very picture of
neutrality in his white look, flirting with the camera. Think less Die Hard gun-toting hero and more the innocence we saw and fell in love with, in his breakout film,
Call Me By Your Name.

London premiere

During the high-profile London premiere of the film, Timothee chose to step it up and put his best foot forward in an Alexander McQueen Spring 2022 black suit. This is Timothee at his edgiest best, opting for a suit with
zippers, an element of sartorial sharpness first seen during the Spring 2022 womenswear
collection from the design house.

Venice Film Festival

At the Venice Film Festival, for the premiere of Dune, Timothee made a case for jewelry and sequins by opting for a sharp top and trousers, draped in "black crystals". He punched up his look with Cartier rings and bracelet and topped it off with a vintage brooch. What is most brilliant is that though Chalamet works without a stylist, he is considered one of the best dressed actors in cinema today and can wear anything from sequins to pastel floral suits to pink hoodies and carry it without a bother. As fashion changes to become more inclusive, Timothee is the perfect celebrity to channel that cause when he isn’t being remarkable with each of his performances, including Beautiful Boy and The King and now Dune.
