7th death anniversary of Musa Khankhel observed
MINGORA: Seventh death anniversary of slain journalist Musa Khankhel was observed here on Thursday.
Awami National Party (ANP) leaders, including Wajid Ali Khan, Dr Khalid Mehmud, Shamsul Iqbal, Deputy Inspector General of Police Azad Khan, Inter-Services Public Relations’ spokesperson Major Abdul Wadud and other government officials spoke on the occasion.
The speakers asked the government to officially observe the death anniversary of the slain journalist who had been killed for his impartial and objective reporting during militancy in the region.
Wajid Ali Khan said that Musa Khankhel should be awarded presidential award for his sacrifice.
The journalists criticised the successive governments for failing to arrest killers of Musa Khankhel. The said government had announced a residential plot for his family, which had yet to be given allotted.
They asked the government to take action against the officials who were creating hurdles in the allotment of plot to the family.
Unidentified persons had shot dead Musa Khankhel in Matta where he had gone for reporting.
DIG Azad Khan said that three other journalists were killed in Swat. However, he said, the militants failed to silenced the free media despite killing reporters in the scenic valley.
