Seven envoys present credentials to president
ISLAMABAD: The envoys of seven countries on Tuesday presented their credentials to President Mamnoon Hussain at a ceremony held at the Aiwan-e-Sadr here.
Those who presented the credentials were the envoys of Iraq, India, Czech Republic, Afghanistan, Thailand, Ireland and Cambodia.Earlier, the envoys arrived at the Presidency in carriages. The national anthems of Pakistan and their respective countries were played and a guard of honour was presented. Later, the ambassadors and high commissioners separately called on the president.
The president, in his talk with the envoys, said Pakistan was desirous of promoting friendly and brotherly relations with all countries, particularly with its neighbours, for peace and prosperity in the region. The president said Pakistan offered numerous investment opportunities and foreign entrepreneurs needed to take advantage of the country’s investor-friendly policies.
Regarding efforts against terrorism, he said the nation had rendered great sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and was committed to ending this menace. He said the Operation Zarb-e-Azb was progressing successfully and would continue till the elimination of the last terrorist.
The president felicitated the newly-appointed envoys and hoped that they would focus on cementing the existing ties of their countries with Pakistan.The ambassadors and high commissioners, who presented their credentials, were Dr Ali Yassin Mohammed Karim, Iraq, Gautam H Bambawale, India, Jan Fury, Czech Republic, Hazrat Omar Zakhilwal, Afghanistan, Suchart Liengsaengthong, Thailand, Brendan Ward, Ireland, and Pichkhun Panha, Cambodia.
