Barefoot Noor accompanied Zahir to airport but he aborted NY travel plans last minute
ISLAMABAD: Zahir Jaffer, the main suspect in the murder of Noor Mukadam, reserved a ticket for a one-way flight to New York, which was scheduled to depart in the early hours of July 19. According to Jaffer's travel plans obtained by Geo News, Zahir booked a ticket on July 7 for a one-way flight to New York, scheduled at 3:50am on July 19.
Sources close to the investigation into the murder of Noor Mukadam, say the suspect contacted a travel agency near Islamabad’s Blue Area on the night between July 18 and 19.
Zahir enquired from the agency about what could happen if he did not travel on the booking date. Zahir was told that his ticket would be “wasted.”
The source said that night Zahir contacted the travel agent five times. He then sent an SMS to the travel agent, saying that he would be travelling to the US that night as scheduled.
Zahir also made arrangements at 12:59pm on July 18 for a taxi service to take him to the airport on July 19 for his scheduled flight.
The taxi driver came to Zahir’s house to pick him up at 11pm. Zahir called the taxi driver and asked him to wait. After nearly an hour, Zahir asked the taxi driver to leave as he was not going to the airport.
Later, however, Zahir once again called the taxi driver who arrived at 2:15am on the night of July 19 to take him to the airport. Noor Mukadam accompanied him to the taxi, barefoot.
Sources say Zahir and Noor got into the taxi and the vehicle moved towards the airport. At Kulsoom Underpass, Zahir suddenly instructed the driver to head back home. When the driver asked what the matter was, Zahir replied that they were “late” and “will not be able to reach on time.”
The taxi driver turned the car around and dropped them both back home at around 2:35am, the sources said.
The driver witnessed Zahir taking Noor inside the house along with his luggage, sources added. Noor remained silent throughout this time.
