AJK political parties agree on Army’s deployment at polling stations
MUZAFFARABAD: The heads of all the political parties of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) contesting the election of the AJK legislative Assembly have unanimously agreed for the deployment of Army at the polling stations to maintain law and order on the polling day.
The decision to this effect was reached at a high level meeting of the Election Commission held here on Monday. The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Justice (R) Abdul Rashid Sulehria was in the chair. The participants of the meeting suggested the AJK Election Commission for the deployment of Army at the polling stations to maintain law and order on the polling day.
Speaking on the occasion the CEC urged the heads of the political parties to ensure the implementation of the code of conduct announced by the Election Commission to ensure the peaceful conduct of the election.
A member of the Election Commission Farhat Ali Mir, speaking on the occasion, said that the purpose of the consultative meeting with the heads of the political parties is aimed at seeking their opinion regarding the deployment of Army at the polling stations to maintain law and order on the polling day and added that Election Commission has taken strict actions against the violations of code of conduct. A resolution regarding the deployment of the Army at the polling station was also passed by the participants.
