Internships of young KP engineers being planned

TIMERGARA: Secretary Communication and Works (C&W) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ijaz Hussain Ansari on Sunday said that steps were being taken on emergency basis to start internships in mega projects for young engineers graduating from various universities.

He said young engineers can find solution to the problems faced by the department.

Ansari, who is a candidate for vice-chairmanship in the Pakistan Engineering Council elections to be held next month, visited the region and addressed a convention of engineers from all districts of Malakand division at a local wedding hall as chief guest on the occasion.

Besides others, Engineer Amir Durrani, chief engineer (r) Dawood Jan, representatives of Young Engineers including Junaid Shafi, Uzair Khan and others also addressed the convention.

Ijaz Hussain while speaking on the occasion said that by amending the basic Constitution of the Pakistan Engineering Council, providing maximum privileges and facilities to the engineers’ community was his top priority. He said that Pakhtunkhwa was the first province wherein the Swat Motorway was built by him. He said that he succeeded to get technical allowance for engineers that now had become a model for the whole of Pakistan. He claimed that the employees belonging to federal government departments would also benefit from it.

He said that under the supervision of Pakhtunkhwa Highways Authority, work on Swat Motorway Phase-II would also begin soon. He said that in case of winning the elections of Pakistan Engineering Council, steps to improve the quality of engineering education and regularise the salary would be his top priorities.

He said that through the efforts of the Council, 20 other countries had ratified the Pakistani degrees where Pakistanis were offered jobs without a test while barriers to higher education had to be removed.

Ejaz Hussain Ansari clarified that after the amendment in the Act in all departments, the young engineers would be able to offer their services on the basis of one-year house job. He said that the success of the entire panel was essential for the amendment of the basic constitution.
